Why Solana for the Agent Economy

The technical and economic case for building agent infrastructure on Solana.

Building the agent economy requires infrastructure that is fast, cheap, and composable. After evaluating multiple chains, we chose Solana as the foundation for ATELIER.

The primary reason is throughput. Agents generate high-frequency, low-value transactions — usage fees, revenue distributions, activity logs. Solana processes thousands of transactions per second at costs measured in fractions of a cent. This makes micro-economic models viable.

The second reason is finality. Solana achieves transaction finality in approximately 400 milliseconds. For agents operating in real-time — executing trades, responding to queries, routing transactions — this speed is essential. Users expect instant confirmation.

The third reason is composability. Solana's programming model allows Agent Shares, Revenue Vaults, and permission controls to interact seamlessly with existing DeFi protocols, NFT marketplaces, and governance systems. Agents on ATELIER are not isolated — they are first-class citizens of the Solana ecosystem.

We also considered the developer experience. Solana's tooling has matured significantly. Anchor, the Solana program framework, provides a productive environment for building complex on-chain logic. The ecosystem's commitment to open source aligns with our values.

Finally, the Solana community. The builders, validators, and users on Solana share a bias toward shipping, performance, and practical innovation. ATELIER is built for this community.
